A group of researchers led by University of Wisconsin-Madison's biochemistry professor Anne Palenberg presented a perfect topographic model about the capsid or protein vein responsible for cold cough. Until 2006, scientists did not know much about this virus. It is believed that this virus, named Rhinovirus C, is responsible for at least 50 percent of children who have fever-throats. The virus is also responsible for respiratory diseases such as asthma.

The viruses responsible for cold cough have been divided into Family A and B. It was long believed that these can be easily grown in the laboratory and it is possible to collect detailed information about them. But the idea of ​​rhinovirus C proved to be wrong. This virus was able to distinguish the researchers' eyes until 2006. Besides, it was not possible to grow in the laboratory. Later, gene chips and improved gene sequencing showed that the new virus was hidden in the cells of the human body along with other viruses.
