Move at Your Own Pace
There is so much pressure on us to move really fast and get things done at the "right time", and so many crazy standards to meet. This pressure doesn't always come from people, sometimes it is from our own selves.
When I was much younger, I had classmates that were slow learners and were often pressurized to learn fast with their peers and well, they almost never learn. It was not because they were unteachable, it was because "fast" wasn't just their pace.
We all have our own natural pace or speed, as clear as that is, it is quite hard for us to understand that fact. There is crazy pressure from family, society and even ourselves to succeed really fast, keep up to certain standards (which are most times unreasonable), and be the best, (I believe there is never a "best" out there, but you can be the best version of you). When the pressure gets too much, we get to our breaking point, which is quite unhealthy and toxic.
Some people get things done fast and become accomplished in a short span of time, others don't and that is not because they are not efficient enough, or smart enough, it is because they move at a slower pace, which is perfect. If you ask me, the pace doesn't matter, what matters is how much passion you have for what you do, how consistent you are and how you are able to enjoy it.
When we move at a fast pace (faster than our own individual pace), we miss out on life, the lessons to be learnt and so many things we could have enjoyed. Being success-driven isn't at all bad, but when that success becomes an obsession, the urge for a faster speed comes in, which might deprive us of the real life which we ought to live to the fullest.
I believe that there is enough time to get things done. At the end of the day, it is not how much we accomplish that will give meaning to our lives, but how much we are able to "live" and enjoy this life.
Don't be afraid of moving at whatever pace you are comfortable at (fast or slow), the societal pressure will always be there, but don't succumb to it, It's your journey anyways, not the society's, friends' or even family's. It's YOUR journey. As long as you are moving forward, it doesn't matter if you walk fast or slow. Enjoy your ride through life.
