Decision-making: Learn to say ''stop''
Hey, guys!
Today I want to tell you about a trap in decision-making, we all fall into and how to avoid it.
The example is taken from the French book "Concise Handbook of Manipulation in Honest People's Favour" by Robert-Vincent Joule and Jean-Léon Beauvois.
A short story
Imagine that it's 23:30 and you are waiting for the last bus, so you can go home. The bus is 5 minutes late already, when a taxi approaches. 'The bus will come soon.' you are thinking. It's midnight already and you are still waiting. Another taxi passes next to you, but you still think that the buss will come. Maybe there is traffic? It starts raining. Exhausted, wet and angry you finally decide that you will walk to your house, when you could have caught a taxi.
The traps of decision making
Well… decision-making has its traps. One of them is that when we make a dicision, we keep following it, even if it is no longer good one.
So what should you do?
Learn to say "stop". Put a limit on, no matter if we are talking about spending time, money or energy. If you think a decision you made is no longer good - just stop following it. The hardest part is to admit that you made a mistake, but I promise you that it will be better for you to make a new decision. It may sound like a simple advice, but it can change your life!
Adios :)
I hope this article was helpful and I wish you good luck with decision making!
Best regards!
Decision making is so hard, many people prefer delegating it to others ;)
It is true. But after all you suffer the consequences of your own choices :3
Well, if you let others make choices for you, you suffer the consequences of theirs too ;)
