Feeling Down? 7 Ways To Reboot Yourself

Experiencing a downward spiral we tend to think that there is no back up...

Maybe you are totally overwhelmed of extremely frustrated about something. Things are not going as you expected them to be. There are a tons of reasons you may feel awful but I am not qualified to treat them. I can only write about things which worked for me.

If you have goals to achieve feeling down can interfere with them, making them harder to achieve. In any case, you have to do something about your depressed state because it can last a long time.

Here are some things which worked the best for me:

1. Create a list

Sometimes getting behind of schedule, and piling up unfinished tasks are behind depression. It causes us to feel overwhelmed and spot us in our tracks. The easiest thing to do in this case is just to grab a pen and a piece of paper and start listing stuff we want to get done. Sometimes just listing all these tasks can cause a huge relief because this "stuff" gets out of our heads.  You are getting things under control again. Now you can clearly see what you need to do and that alone can pick up your mood.

2. Do Something About It

You created your list but still feel depressed or overwhelmed? Pick one item from that list and get it done.
If it seems big then chop it up into smaller tasks. Start some momentum. If things start moving you will feel a lot better. You only need to do something just to get started. Trust me if you are actively going through your list it feels much better than laying and feeling sorry about yourself.

3.  Excercise

I know that you may not be in the mood for exercise but just do something. Go to gym, walk around your house, do a couple squats, go for a walk- whatever it is you do for exercise.  Your mood will definitely improve a bit. Many people don1t know but our mood (our hormone levels) actually closely related to our posture. By simply exercising we change that so it directly changes our mood as well. Have you ever tried to feel depressed while smiling? (You should because it works!)

4. Shower and Groom Yourself

A strange one isn't it? Laying around, wearing smelly or just a bit dirty underwear is not the most comfortable feeling in the world. It will not do any good to your mood. Simply taking a shower and feeling clean can do wonders with your mood. You decide but do something which makes you feel clean. It is an instant pick me up!

5. Get Out And Do Something!

I noticed that sometimes even after my mood has changed quite a bit laying around in the house is still depressing. You need to get some fresh air. Get up get out and do something productive preferably from your list from Step 1.

6. Tune in With Some Music

I love children choirs but you may be different. You surely have your own brand which produces some upbeat music. Listen to it and let it cure your mood. This is exactly what the doctor would prescribe.

7. Talk to Someone About It

You have your friends, someone you love, a significant other. They are there to help. Just getting things off your chest may do wonders. Even if they can't help any other way just telling them may help you to figure out what is the source of your uneasy feelings.
