People do various ugly things to themselves out of the different reasons, which can be bottom line more than confusing for somebody who is positive, outgoing and stable, but not everybody is like that.

In my opinion the victim should think of their friends and families to whom the will left broken. This is the strongest point help them to take a U-turn.
