Yes I agree. I was hoping someone would pick up that point. Some point out that life has meaning while we are alive. Of course it does. But they miss the big picture of what Solomon was saying. If there is no continuation of existence, all we do is meaningless anyway. Meaning is only fleeting and our value as a human-being is relative to our status and wealth. If, however, our consciousness/soul continues after the body dies, then life has a deeper meaning than we can actually really grasp. But we can deduce that it means quite a lot, because suddenly all our experiences/ actions/memories, are not lost forever, but are stored within us forever rather like some gigantic living database. Then life has incalculable meaning and importance.
