Simple info and ideas that will make such a difference to how your posts are written and accepted!

The basics most of us know:

Headline titles: an un-interesting wishy-washy sentence won’t wash! Your headline statement must be desirable to be clickable.

  • That is, dramatic, dynamic and spectacular like a newspaper headline. Something smart, fascinating and powerful that suggests what is to come.
  • Or it could be silly nonsense, tongue-in-check stuff that suggests a fun treat or good joke is going to be had in the post’s contents.
  • Whatever it is, make it short, bold and direct. Simple words make it easy, quick to read and grip one’s attention.

Sub-title: Statement that is also very important. It’s an introduction, idea or something that makes people want to click on your post, to see and read right down to the bottom of your post.

  • Whatever you do, don’t repeat the headline title in your sub-title. Think of saying it in a different way, yet still effective in grabbing people’s attention and interest.
  • The first words of your sub-title introduction are very important, as often the rest of it is not even seen on the search listing.

Tip: after finishing writing you blog, go back and see if the headline-title and the sub-title suit what you have written in your blog, before you post it. Could you improve on it?

The basics that are not so used:

Break up your content into smaller paragraphs, because big blocks of texted words are off-putting.

  • People are lazy you see. The huge bulks of words look like hard work to them. They don’t want to feel like they have to plough through all that.
  • And it’s hard to kept your place (“which line you were on now?”) of where you were reading, if you are distracted while reading through all that waffle.
  • Each paragraph must have its own meaning or projection. And it’s sub-heading should cover the theme it’s presenting.

Break the content up with dynamic sub-headings: Funny enough, sub-headings must also be `catchy’ to keep the visitor reading on down the post.

  • If the sub-headings are in bold text, they stand out from the paragraph it is heading (and other paragraphs too). The difference in text boldness makes it much easier to read down your post.
  • And each sub-heading should have its own purpose message. But link the facts of these sub-headings so the order of sub-headings directs the train of thought the writer is trying to convey down through the post.
  • Use different text within the content of your post. Some normal, some italics, some bigger, made bold, whatever to make things look interesting and more pronounced.

Breaking up the content with dramatic bold or different lettering makes the whole post more attractive, easier and desirable to read.

Also break up content with bullets:

But here we must consider what type of bullets. Numbered bullets suggest there is an order or sequence to be followed. Or the amount of facts covering or involved in the theory you are presenting.

Keep content clear & simple:

A lot of posts out there are un-readable. Just a jumble of words! You can see the writer didn’t double check what they wrote before they posted it.

  • When there is a jumble of sentences all mixed up together, it’s frustrating because the thought processes aren’t linked.
  • If there is no order of facts in the jumble of what has been written, the reader has a hard time understanding the thought processes involved.
  • Often you find there is no Capital (uppercase) letters for beginning of sentences or full-stops (dots) at the end of sentences, so the reader has a hard time breaking it up into sentences and cyphering what was actually said or supposed to be conveyed.
  • Where possible break up long sentences: The shorter the sentences, the quicker it is to read it. It also puts action, enthusiasm and drama into what you say.
  • Comas are used as dramatic pauses in what you say. Also clarifies parts of the sentence. And it also adds harmonic speech to what has been said. If things are said on one level of tone sound, the listener becomes bored and the message falls on deaf ears.
  • Use simple words everyone understands. If you have an unusual or use complex words, give an explanation of its meaning.

Follow-through wording:

  • Bold lettering for sub-headings and important words within sentences, helps the reader absorb the most important facts. And helps in finding facts, when selecting and writing notes or doing revision.
  • And for those who like skimming through a post first (once they have already clicked on it) they can quickly know what the post is basically all about and if it is worth fully reading it right through, right down to the bottom of the post.

That was just the basics:

Just one post can’t say it all... that is everything about the best way to blog.  But these are the main basic things people should know, if they want to become successful bloggers for starters.

Great tips

This post alot of new people need to read very important basics

Thank you so much for this helpful informations

Great topic thanks @artguru

The main title is very important to attract the attention of readers

Very useful and excellent explanation well done

Be as simple as much as you can, it will be easy for people to understand what you really want to convey.

I've posted similar blogs on this topic. But said it in different ways, because we don't all understand things in the same way. And said in a different way, somehow it clicks into place and strikes a cord where one or two things we can relate to and understand from that point of view.

I always enjoy following your articles. They are always detailed and easy to follow. Such as sub title and the powerful used of punctuation in your piece. I guess, I will learn to adopt one or two pattern you used. Most especially breaking down of point and backing it up with fact. Then the sub heading.

Yes. For the person writing the post or comment , they understand what they meant. But for those reading it without punctuation, its a puzzle that takes to too long to cipher.

I appreciate your efforts to benefit us thank you from the bottom of my heart my warm greetings

True information. People love to see interesting publications, which they feel are not tedious at all or we usually pass them by (in every subject there is a type of reader, obvious). Starting with the title we give them, that's the most significant thing. In my opinion.

Yes, the headline title is what grabs them first. But we mustn't let people down by not following it with something worth reading.
