Quiet Your Mind During Meditation

in #life5 years ago

Quiet Your Mind Through Movement. To get to a truly peaceful and relaxed meditative state, learn to move your body while you are deeply breathing in and out. Practicing this movement while meditating will calm your mind as well as bring about a sense of peace throughout the entire process. It's not only relaxing but it also promotes better balance.

Quiet Your Mind Through Listening. Meditation is about connecting with your Higher Self, and so it is crucial that you hear your own thoughts and your own breathing at the same time. While listening to your own thoughts and your breathing, focus on nothing else but them. Doing so will allow you to reach a deeper level of relaxation and stillness.

Quiet Your Mind During Praying. When praying, it's important to not think about God or any other outside source of inspiration. Doing so can distract you from reaching your inner peace. Focus on your breathing and what you are saying rather than thinking about anything else.

Quiet Your Mind During TV Watching. Watching television can be extremely stimulating, but when done while also meditating can actually help you get into a more peaceful frame of mind. When watching TV, try to focus your eyes on the screen and keep your mind as still as possible. This will allow your mind to slip away from repetitive thoughts and distractions.

Quiet Your Mind During Reading. Reading can be an exceptionally rewarding way to quiet your mind. However, it can also be extremely distracting, especially when you read in the wrong order or try to skip parts of the text. To combat this, it's important that you take in slowly and concentrate on every word pair. To begin, focus on a word or pair of words for about a half minute before letting your mind wander. Repeat this exercise for about 5 minutes and you should find a great sense of tranquility.

Quiet Your Mind During Yoga. One of the best exercises to calm your nerves and prepare your body for deeper meditation is yoga. Yoga allows you to work on your breathing and your postures without distracting other people in your home. While practicing yoga, make sure that you stay completely centered and don't let your body take over. Continue this exercise for about 10 minutes each day and you'll soon find yourself feeling much more relaxed.

Quiet Your Mind During Sleep. Meditation can be particularly effective if you sleep with someone else, since it allows you to clear your mind before falling asleep. If you find yourself having thoughts that stray into other areas of your life or if you start having nightmares, then you need to stop these activities and return to your meditation. It is important that you don't let your thoughts linger because these will keep interfering with sleep.

Don't worry too much about these suggestions. They're just suggestions. They serve to introduce some ideas and hopefully they will help you get into the habit of quieting your mind. Eventually, after you've mastered it, you'll find that you have complete control over the way that you think, making all the difference between success and failure.

When you meditate, remember that you are always aware of what's going on around you. The mind is always working to gather information and to process that information. You don't need to think about something to be able to experience the peace of mind that comes from being able to let go of unwanted thoughts. If you concentrate on the task at hand, though, you might force your mind to focus on something that doesn't really require your attention such as a phone ringing or someone's voice.

This is exactly what you want to avoid. If you do feel the need to focus on something, make sure that your mind wanders off to a peaceful place. Don't force your thoughts on to the surface of your consciousness. You should only ever try meditation when you are comfortable enough to let go of all distractions.

If you have never practiced meditation before, there are many books out there with information on how to do this. You can also learn meditation techniques through websites and books. As long as you practice on a regular basis, you will start to relax your mind and bring more clarity to it. Meditating is very beneficial for anyone who wants to achieve inner peace. Remember to be patient, though, as it can take time to fully learn how to calm your mind.
