Wow! you've really articulated a concept i've been grappling with. Are you familiar with Terrence Mckenna? He proposed an idea called 'Gaian holism'. Very similar to the idea you proposed.

Of all the disasters that have hit the earth, the cataclysms of asteroidal impacts, global flooding, mega-volcanos, planet wide wild fires and disease, the branch of life that has danced through with the most grace and ease has been the plant world.

Because of their architecture of interconnections, communication, beneficial collaboration, co-evolution through the collaboration with environment, the vegetable mind is the paradigm humanity must adopt if it desires to survive the coming ages.
