Chocolate or strawberry? Life or death? We make so many quick decisions unconsciously and over some, we agonize. We all are a function of our decisions. What we are today is a function of the decision we toke yesterday and tomorrow would be a function of the decision we take today.

Often time, we never intend to make such weak, irrational and wrong decision but we make them either way. More often than not, we take biased and emotional decisions, a times, decisions without sufficient information. We never should leave crossroads to chance, No. At such crossroads, what we do are crucial.

Advice and Instructions
Life is cyclic. Usually the decision may have been taken by someone else, though, your situation maybe peculiar. It's likely someone else has solved it on a different level, and here comes the importance of a life coach, mentor or adviser. We all need a life coach, as they help give a clearer perspective. A third party brings objectivity to the matter.

Avoiding Sentiment
Having a vested interest in a matter usually produce a selfish decision. Look from the neutral stand point, avoid emotional attachment. Shelve personal ego.

Get the Right Information
Get your acts together, get the truth and facts from heresy and vain words. Its important to have the full information even before considering the options available.

Be Decisive
Indecision is a worse form of wrong decision. Learn to take action, do something, take a decision. As much as you involve a third party, too much information can also be overwhelming. Take your decision, back it with actions and stand by it.

Yesterday was a crossroad for me and true to it, these key points were of help. Let's get talking, how do you go about your decision making?

Small decisions are best left to our intuition. We have remarkably powerful decision making heuristics - and can make complex decisions with minimal energy.

But as you pointed out, confirmation bias skews our thinking so that we find the evidence to support the decision we most want. Therefore it is a really good idea to discuss the decision with someone who doesn't necessarily agree with us.

Another good tip is to decide, sleep over the night, then reassess the decision.

The 10-10-10 rule is good too; Will I feel good about this choice after 10 days, 10 months, and 10 years. If not, it's the wrong decision.

Wow, like i said, your perspective is great.
10-10-10 rule, really good point there for me. Also, sleep as a reassurance, i use that a lot and resolve to peace within when i wake up. Thanks real good for the thought.
