WE ATE STICKY RICE WITH BANANAS
Have you ever heard a story of a bygone era? When the first celebration of the birth prophet once celebrated around the world? We, in Aceh, has the tradition and celebration of the Prophet's birth is celebrated during the hundred days, in different places and at different time. What is unique about this tradition is, the community provides a variety of snacks and meals which are then distributed to all guests.
The guests who attended were orphans, and people from all over the region. One characteristic is the presence of sticky rice, which is made from glutinous rice then mix them with grated coconut and sugar, which in turn in the dressing with banana leaves. This is interesting, as is typical of such traditions is rarely found in other places, all over the world.
Thousands of sticky rice made by the community, (each community to donate one hundred rice sticky) have been stacked in the area of distribution of food, to be distributed to the guests, after the show is finished
In addition to the menu, sticky that many of these will be collaborated with bananas, all those people who eat it will take a banana to a sticky. So when people receive 100 sticky, which means people will also receive 100 bananas
Orphans and the poor provide entertainment to the visitors who come, the entertainment is a song that glorifies the prophet, and give awards to the religious leaders, as well as gratitude to God
And this is called "dolang", a kind of tool is a big basket that can contain all the food in it, there are a variety of foods, each dolang is derived from the head of the family. And, in the village there are usually hundreds of households. They, native did not eat here, because they give special for every guest who attended the celebration of the birth of the prophet.
Guests are hearing the chanting of hymns sung by the participantmaulid celebration, they did not just wait for the food, but also sang religious songs
Well, this is one of respect, everyone stood and listened to the songs sung by the orphans and the poor before, standing committee immediately provide plastic bag for each guest, placed in front of the personal and individual gain a pack of bananas and sticky rice.
Sticky rice, in addition to shared at the celebration of the birth of this prophet is also frequently used as a regular meal snacks at the coffee shop and other food stalls. The difference, sticky rice sold in the market is not in eating the bananas, but only plain grilled sticky rice. Then become a friend good coffee.
