Live Your Dream

in #life6 years ago

Over the years, history has introduced to us great people with great deeds, who have improved Man's living conditions, developed our world and have had great impact and influence in their lifetime in more ways than one. Of course they have been celebrated for living their dreams; their lives brought about genuine and desirable changes that mankind craved, and greatly served as a catalyst for modern day growth and development of civilizations the world over.

One thing common to Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Nelson Mandela, Martins Luther King Jnr, Mother Theresa, John D Rockefeller, Bill Gate, Kanu Nwakwo, to mention a few was this simple fact: They discovered their purpose and lived their dreams!

Viewing life on the grand scale, we find that those who truly lived, were those who had lived their dreams, and lived it to the fullest at that. The essence of existence isn't just about breathing and having a few things you call yours alone, nor is it about living in fear and pretense. Rather, it's about making a difference, filling the void, and being a reference for excellence.

Isn't it sad that today's motive is quite the opposite? Rather than any of the above, what is commonplace is confusion, frustration and diversion. Projects jettisoned halfway, lives unfulfilled, dreams dashed and destinies unrealized, crime getting high on the hog, businesses crashing, gangsterism, wars, threats, more wars, female subjugation, mind control, corrupt leaders basking in the most 'corrupt of corruptions', and receiving accolades on TV as they go, turmoil on the network News and outside your window everyday. I mean, I could go on, but c'mon, are we ever going to exhaust that list? it's almost endless.

Different ideologies as to why people tend to live way below their potentials exist though, and while some people have blamed it on civilization as the root cause, others have blamed it on geographical habitats and life's unforseen circumstances. To add to it, amongst the many ideaologies are economic issues, family, peer and communal influence, cultural and religious practices, marital circumstances, social views and what nots.

Contemporarily, the need to survive has become 'the main thing' in this part of the world, and most likely is responsible for the bulk of dullness and setback to development in the continent. People abandon the right thing to do, to that which gives them instant gratification. They'd try anything to survive, anything at all for a bunch of loose cash. What are we looking at? Instant cash, get-rich-quick schemes, 'sharp-sharp-moni' - a mirror they have always admired, the end they have always imagined, the path they have always wished for. In the end, it just doesn't scale!

Let's get things sorted out: If the only thing one is living for is survival, it speaks poorly about the quality of life that such a person would have. They'd be fluid, raw, extreme and low on morals, and they cannot last! However, only those who live, - not only to themselves- but seek to do all the good they can, and try to add some level of value and significance to their societies, can really last long enough to make any real impact. Paraphrasing Mark Twain, he said:

The hallmark of greatness is consistency of purpose.

But of course, some people give seemingly genuine reasons why it's okay to put their dreams on hold, or to abandon them and quit. Most often than not, it's on the basis of religion or creed! In truth, they're simply doing their lives, and the world a disservice. For what it's worth, any reason to do things that would diminish one's capacity to explore and employ their potentials is, at best, unacceptable, no matter how logical, detailed, compassionate or tenable it may seem!

Living, to live in the memory of others.

It must also be noted that, while trying to live our dreams, our motives behind those dreams should be kept in check. Really, it should, and one way to do that is to ask ourselves why we're doing what we're doing. What do I hope to achieve with this? To what end?. This kind of self-talk helps us make better decisions that are beneficial to others. Afterall, nothing is greater than living to impact, influence and inspire, and the only way it can be possible is by first recognizing and overcoming those fears that have kept us back from beginning, and then startoff by working diligently from today towards being the kind of person we are truly meant, in pursuit of those dreams. In the distant future, this decision (the toils of thy youth) would pay off, and our lives would inspire and influence generations to come in a positive way.

Give or take, some of the things that has greatly influenced the way we view the world right now are the decisions of leaders past.
Rest assured, whether good or bad, our choices will have positive or negative outcomes later, and we want to mKe sure that when it's tried through the fire, and tested over time, it really did make a good difference.

It's about the choices.

Be decisive, nothing is ever too great or important to give up on so as to live your dreams. No risk is ever too high to take. Life is too short to start rehearsals when the match has already begun; If there is anything you have to do, now is the time to begin!

Discover your purpose, determine strategic plans, seek counsel from good people that will help you out, develop a positive attitude, desire to practice what will make you become you! Delete awful experiences and dare to pursue your aspirations and dreams.

Life is a test, but then again it's not. Sometimes it's like a joke, and at other times, it's not. Life is about trust and truce, and victories and defeats, and trials and appraisals. Life twists and bends and curls and curves. Life is temporary, Life is chance, Life is purpose.

Anything that comes your way as an hinderace is a test for your true strength. It begs the question; how strong is your focus, resolutions and character? The next generation trust your capacity to deliver. Your creator trusts you to manage every resources you have at hand. Life operates on the principle of time and chance. You don't have time, and you don't want to miss out on these chances.

Therefore, we must realize that we are never the same. There's so much to do and to achieve, and the only way to do that is to live our out dreams. Remember:

The journey of a thousand mile begins with a single step".

Take a step further Now. The world is waiting for you!

Win.

Amazing post, perfect description between reality and dreaming.

A good read dear. There is a clear difference between living for one's self, and living unto purpose.

Thank you

Thank you for reading.

Apt to the end.

It's rather beautiful, the way you iron out these societal ills and at the end, exhort your audience on the way forward.

A very good read there.
