EastWest Rural Bank- Fire and Earthquake Drill 2018

Have you ever noticed that for the past few weeks or months here in the Philippines,when we turn on our TV's and watch news, whenever we read newspapers and even on social media, all we see and hear are sudden events like earthquake and just recently some fire situations happened in Ayala Center Cebu, somewhere in Pasil, Cebu, and from other parts in the Philippines.

And so from all these mishaps, I guess we should all know what really the problem is, it starts within ourselves, in order to prevent fire, we should all be catious enough to know the basics. And we're lucky enough to be given an activity that would help us to know fire prevention not just in our workplace but also at home.

It's the first time for EastWest Rural Bank-Jones Branch to conduct this activity and most of us too are first timers having the said activity, though I already have tried it during my tenure from my first employer but this time it's different. They conducted a seminar first about fire prevention and proceeded to the drill afterwards.

We invited visitors from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to assist us and impart with us their knowledge about the basics of fire prevention.

Also, in coordination with Brgy. Sambag II fire station to assist us with their fire trucks and firefighters team.

It is a good idea to hold practice drills as often as necessary to keep employees prepared. Include outside resources such as fire and police departments when possible. After each drill, gather management and employees to evaluate the effectiveness of the drill. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of your plan and work to improve it.

Preparation is the key to effective response to workplace fires. Fire drills help prepare employees to respond quickly, calmly, and safely. Though it's the first time that it is mandated by the company to conduct this activity, we hope to look forward for this to be an annual activity.
