Police managed a recent abduction quietly and successfully .......

The police used both covert and overt strategies with the case of a little girl taken from a shopping centre outside Brisbane recently. They acted quickly and efficiently, identified the perpetrator through CCTV, worked out where he took the little 7 year old her and when he returned her to the mum. A 26 year old man has been arrested for allegedly abducting and indecently interfering with a child under 12 years of age.

It would seem that politicians have criticised the police for not providing the public with more information. The magistrate has made a decision to have a closed court case. This is to protect the 7 year old and to not have the media and social influences negatively influence the case.

"It's also important that I take into account the interests of the administration of justice in ensuring that the proceedings proceed according to the fundamental principle of fairness and the application of the rule of law and not by a public or social media lynching."{abc.net.au}

I personally applaud the actions of the police. Police have one tough job, they are done if they do and done if they don't. They are always scrutinised and in many cases unfairly so.

Apart from reeling over the alleged actions of this man and incredible sympathy toward the 7 year old and her parents, there is calm in this South East Queensland. It is is a stark reminder that parents must be very vigilant in watching their children in shops

My heart goes out to this little girl, her parents and family. How imaginably hard it would be for a mum to come to terms with a child being taken while out shopping? The guilt and regrets would be immense, kicking herself for taking her eyes away from her child. But who would have figured that this would have happened!

I hope that this little girl is going to be okay. I hear that the police are still supporting her.
