On keeping the spirit up and the hope for a better Steemit.

It's an honor to "represent" my beloved country and sharing about Steemit at the UN! Lols!

When I first got to know about Steemit, I was ecstatic beyond the moon.

Even if I have not heard about it, eventually it will be shared by people within the platform and information about it will spread like a bush fire as I spent most of my time on Social Media.

Although I wasn’t sure how it really works in the beginning, I grew to like it more and more because:

  1. I have experienced positivity out of the platform and made some good friends out of it;

  2. It changes lives for the better – you can really earn good income out of it, IF you know HOW;

  3. But if you don’t, and just continue writing for the fun of it (like me), you will still earn something although not as much as you would hope.

Unless you have huge followers or supporters, invested in some voting or resteeming bots or got lucky and roped into some Steemit’s projects and initiatives that could earn you side income, you can really earn decent income on the platform.

Sometimes, I do wonder, what happens if none of these bots or services or rewards from projects and initiatives exist? I guess it will be just like the good ol' blogging platform. Will people still discover and vote us due to amazing contents? Perhaps you still can. But not until you work doubly hard with extraordinary hustling.

Nevertheless, Steemit does help in some ways, like when you needed emergency fund or looking for a channel to unleash your creativity or promote or sell your services and products.

No, it’s not really about HOW MANY postings you posted on Steemit in a day, it’s about the QUALITY of postings and how many people responded to it that earns you votes and income.

Depending on what you write and how you write it, you don’t always get encouraging outcome. In other words, not EVERYTHING that you wrote will:

  1. Attracts a lot people to read it (unless they have been following & supporting you all these while);

  2. Get good response from readers, some may even leave you with negative feedback. I have seen how haters responded to articles just because they have beef with the writer for whatever reasons;

  3. Some readers may take some articles too personal and decided to take it to the ‘war’ by leaving “you-suck-and-I-am-always-right” feedback;

  4. Some will refuse to see the good of whatever that you posted, always want to find your “flaws” that they may or may not leave feedback;

  5. Some will read and responded but never bother (or forgot) to vote.

It is hard to control people’s thoughts and expectations. Well, we can't always get along with everybody and that's fine. Humans are complex beings anyways.

I have been a silent reader reading Trending and Hot postings from Steemit since day one and I do notice that it’s hard for some newbies to earn decent income unless they truly make an effort to put in initiatives to write (and post interesting photos) better and research for ways to earn by investing and getting involve in various online and offline Steemit’s projects.

Some newbies feels the thrill in the beginning when they see these “welcoming” upvotes coming in and then slowly the spirit started to fade away like a wilted flower when the once huge votes slowly decreasing.

There is nothing alarming with this phenomenon. In fact, this is normal. Human is only willing to participate in the process as long as it gives them back the value or benefits and they will eventually leave when it no longer serves them what they “need”. They want quick remedy or tips but rarely spend the time to put in effort or persevere.

Just like any other social platforms out there, there will always be something good and bad about them.

While we harness on the good side of Steemit, I do hope someday Steemit’s Founders or Creators (is it @ned and @dantheman?) would look into improving Steemit’s users experience, ie: Like if we need advice or clarification, currently there is no specific go-to group within the Steemit HQ (is there a HQ?). Or does Steemit even have a Customer Support Department if the HQ peeps are not available? I never really know.

Steemit or not, I usually prefer to go direct to the source whenever I am in doubt because you know they will always provide you with a reliable and almost accurate answer.

For example, in a huge organization there is always a layer of C-levels and Management in charge of certain tasks, but in Steemit I couldn’t exactly find where the office is located (although I know it’s either in New York or Austin, Texas now?) or who’s who in the team and what do they do. But I can find information on Google and Facebook but not Steemit.

With over 920,000 user account (and still growing!), 1.5 million monthly postings and 3.78 million monthly comments on Steemit these days, it will be a challenge to really making sure there is no plagiarism, bots or power abuse on the platform. Is there a Steemit’s Police that we can go to if we need to Whistle Blow? Again, I never really know.

While my curiosity may seemed ridiculous to some, I do believe everyone's curiosity is just as valid. I may or may not get the information in due time, but I guess that’s just how things are going to work for now.

Nevertheless, I will still continue to support Steemit for all the good qualities it represents and looking forward for its promising future ahead.
