In my opinion, anything you do online or in life with regards to being a creator or communicator should come from a place of passion. Would you create or connect if there was no expectation of reciprocity or monetary gain? I have answered that question for myself long ago. That said, it is certainly icing on the cake to have social media engagement and also be compensated for your contributions. But do try and focus on your passions and sharing that with others.
