Es una película con una trama particular en la que hace alusión a los grandes artistas de los años 20, todo empieza cuando un Gil e Inez , visitan la ciudad de París como un anticipo de su boda. Gil un escritor de películas y comerciales en Estados Unidos busca convertirse en novelista bohemio en París (una ciudad idealizada por un pasado de triunfo para el arte). Y en cambio Inez pretende seguir con sus vidas en Estados Unidos sin tomar en cuenta lo que quiere su esposo Gil.. Desde un principio no se observa una empatía de la pareja mostrándonos que el amor es ciego y que tal vez estamos con una persona por conveniencia.
Dentro de la historia no solo se muestra una historia de amor hacia una persona sino más bien hacia al arte, a como el arte muestra los sentimientos de las personas y los expresa de una manera diferente. Este es un filme en el que no solo los amantes del arte deberían ver si no más bien todas las personas deberían observarlo para poder sentir y tener esa emoción de aprender acerca de la literatura y de diferentes épocas.
