Plains High School.Plains GA. Where Jimmy Carter Attended School!
Just as President Jimmy Carter's Childhood home is a federal park, also the Plains High School as also been turned into a federal park. It is like it was when President Jimmy Carter attended school there. It also has many pictures and some stories of his life there also. Sorry, some of the pictures are not the best, I have an old GE X500 and it does not do the best sometimes. I still wanted to share though! Getting some debts paid off and hope to be able to get a better camera soon, so bear with me, please. I am working on getting better at shooting videos and pictures!
This is just a short little video I shot showing the front of the school and I pan around some of the area. Yes, I know I need to work in shooting video and it is a learning process. I was going to do more videos of the inside but there were a lot of people there and on the inside of the school, it was quite noisy. So it would have made a really bad video. So I will share some pictures with you.
What everyone wants to see first and that is the Principal's Office! I spent quite a bit of time in the Principal's office when I was in school. I do not think that makes you a bad student or lid, just an adventurous child, I would say!
I took lots of photos so I will just share a few here. It was a big place and lots of things to see. Here are a few of the photos I took.
Yes, Before Jimmy Carter became President he did run a successful peanut farm. When He got out of office it was in dire straits and Billy Carter, whom I believe was let "in Trust" to run it, did not do so good running that business.
Sorry, this is not the greatest picture in the world! There was a lot of light in the auditorium here in the school. I had to take this shot real quick as people were going to start coming into this room. Many did not want to be in the picture. For a small school, this was a big auditorium. It was also used for other meetings in the early days of Plains, Ga.
There were many excerpts here on the life of President Jimmy Carter and his family. Something you may not know but when President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn for married they lived in public housing. I think that is something not many people knew!
Well, that is all for this post! I want to thank everyone that reads this post and I hope you learned something from it. I want to leave you with this picture. I want to ask, did you ever sit on the front porch at night and just sit and listen to the sounds of the night? The crickets chirping and the tree frog blurping out. If you did then you either lived in a small town or out in the country. That was the most relaxing time for me and still is to this day.
I remember when I was the age of my grandkids, sitting in the swing next to my grandmother and my grandfather sitting in his rocking chair, not saying a word just listening to the sounds of the animals and going over our day in our heads. Most of the time, not a word was said until one of us got up and said "Good Night and love you!" All my grandparents are gone now but the memories of those times and of them are with me forever! I hope everyone has a good night/day, whatever it is in your part of the world!
