TEARS LIKE A RIVER...

in #life6 years ago

And while previous months greeted us with comic relief
From Woke to Wife. We danced gracefully to the beats of Table Shakers
While we transmitted transmission from being lazy youths
To lovers who found their Lifetime Assurance
Way down, we enjoyed every bit of our suffering smiling
At least,
we couldn’t have asked for anything more to console our grief for a failed country
Eagerly we anticipated the arrival of our dear June
Some of us wrote letters to plead for it arrival in earnest
Since we couldn’t get enough of sarcasm the past months gifted us
Like his gone brothers, June shouldn’t be any different, anyway
Because, 'This is Nigeria'
Musa tried but he couldn't have done much

We never had a fall out with it
Like the previous, we expected a jolly good fellow
Blowing us with more sarcasm from our Ogas at the Top
To cool of the country’s helpless state

Cruel June came
With its tail in between its legs
Having its head in the cloud
Never ready to play to the gallery of us, expectants

Our papa had declared a financial breakthrough for the New Month
They have prophesied Increase, Favor, Divine health, open doors, enemies' death
But none ever did see June’s pregnancy about to be delivered of death toll nation wide
None ever did see on the back of June rode wailing and garnishing of teeth
None ever did see. No, not one ever saw a Black June; attacks, explosions, wanton death packages
Blindfolded religious leaders!
All they ever saw was Glitz and Glamour
And each of us joyfully keyed into it with our coins in resounding Amen by fire

June came by with gross doom
It breathe on us murky shadows of chaos
The skies wept, the heavens rent his cloth
Oh the Plateau, a massive slaughter room
Earth was forced to drink blood from the HerdMen’s cup
And Lagos’ poured more blood served with roasted flesh as fresh baked bread
Burnt beyond human recognition
To whom do we owe this inhumane human sacrifice?

For the first time, God was nowhere close to the boarders of Nigeria
He shut his ears against the scream of hopelessly helpless children
And turned his eyes away from the doom hell unleashed on us
Perhaps, He went for sabbatical in Paris
Or maybe He’s somewhere in Russia enjoying the world cup game as it unfolds
Forgetting to delegate watch over Nigeria to His second in command

Allah was nowhere to be found
He had left to the Holy land, Mecca to enjoy his Ramadan Mubarak in the Prophet's cave
Shouldn't he have allowed the Ramadan ablution wash away June's impending disaster?

They both left the shores of Nigeria
Leaving the gods of the land to feast on the human sacrifices cruel June offered
Since they are all-Knowing, should they not have known a period of mourning will come as this
And perhaps send words through their faithful servants, as of old

What happened to our Religiousness?

June has birth us great doom as a Nation
This, our leaders has no business with
Because someone just declared that death toll was worse in the former government than this; sentiment, religious fanatics, indifference, ethnicism rules us comfortably!
After all, an animal’s life is worth more than the lives of ten humans put together in my dear country
They are safe, we are the ones left to bear the brunt
Tell those gone to weep for us, for we know not where or who might be the next.

But over there they have been freed and saved from this Hell.
