FORGIVENESS BEYOND BETRAYAL
Betrayal no doubt is a wrong that hurts deeply, it cuts deep down. But the truth is that betrayal is inevitable because it's a Human thing. Some people are emotionally intelligent, they can handle hurts, they cry and come out of it and move on with their lives. while some are not emotionally sound, they tie themselves to the pain.
They keep on Nursing it within, some even specialize in spreading the bitterness all over. Although their anger is justified, because there are betrayals that are so grievous. some people could not survive such betrayals. In fact, it led some to their early graves. For instance, the betrayal of Caesar Augustus the statesman of the old Roman Empire.
As imperfect beings though, we should be able to let go of wrongs as soon as possible if not for anything but because it is not good for our health.
Judie Iscariot loved money very much. The dude practically salivated when he saw or heard the jingling sound of coins. I bet, his voice was the loudest when the disciples sparked against the woman pouring ointment on Jesus from the alabaster box.
Dude was certainly peeved afterwards. Another money making venture had slipped through his hands. And so, when he went to the Priests and Elders of the People, he couldn't help it. The jingling thirty pieces of silver turned his brain. He just had to seal the deal.
But that's by the way. He was fulfilling prophecy afterall.
Now, let's imagine Jesus never foresaw the betrayal. Let's imagine the discuss, jokes and laughter circulating around when they had the last supper. Let's imagine Jesus praying and all of a sudden he's surrounded and Judie comes forward and kissed him. Imagine those hefty, no-nonsense, Roman Soldiers dragging him to be crucified.
The shock, disbelief, and distraught could have made Jesus say, "Baba, I no de do again, I dey come house". In fact, he would've blasted Judie and all in that garden with thunder out of anger and disappeared to the celestial plane. Mankind would have been doomed forever just because of betrayal from one individual.
That's what betrayal has turned some of us into. Wronged by one person, we vented our spleen on all and sundry. You see some individuals and they're just irritable and bitter every time. They have a sort of maniac anger against everyone. And funny enough, some of them go to church too.
Mehn, I can't imagine the number of persons that have been blasted into smithereens by them-innocent persons that have no idea or no hand in the wrong did to them. I'm certain such individuals have caused many people to cry a million tears. All of these they inflict on people because they refused to move on.
If you're such individual, there's a toxicity associated with you. You become toxic to yourself and everything around you. Anything you touch withers immediately. Why? Because there's no peace. You're a ticking bomb that explodes without caution and destroys all around you.
Thank God Jesus moved on. I'm certain it was necessary for him to foresee his betrayal before hand; it was a deciding moment for Mankind. It would have been catastrophic had he not even known.
I'm saying yours is just a wrong compared to what Jesus suffered; he died because of it. Move on from the wrongs and stop spreading your hurts to others as well. Of course it's painful considering the level of trust had for such 'betrayer'.
But please, don't spread the pain to others as well. That's wickedness 101; a special course "witchology" in itself. If Jesus Christ could forgive everybody on that cross where he was suffering, who are you not to forgive? But what do I know, it's a choice after all.
Long sermon cut shut: Don't be toxic. Don't allow others suffer for wrong against you. Come to peace with yourself. Forgive and move on.
Believe me, it's easier this way.
