Learn body language: our gestures and their psychological explanation

in #life7 years ago

People have different reasons why they hide the truth and you often do not have to blame them, some lie because their job demands them, others for fear of losing something, some because they are undecided, others because they don't want to hurt people they love.

Gestures and attitudes betray what is hidden behind a person's words. Therefore, if you know how to interpret body language, you can tell when the interlocutor lied to you, you can find out what his intentions are and what is his state of mind.

We can hide emotions and feelings behind words, but the body betrays them very easily. Specialists have calculated that we transmit 55% of information through gestures, posture, eye movement, face expression, etc., 38% by voice inflections and only 7% by words. Therefore, body language has the highest weight in the messages we communicate. Often, words are useless during an act of communication. There are situations in which we tend to attach more importance to non-verbal language than to what the interlocutor says.

Body language consists of body position, way of standing, face expression, walking, eye movement and regular gestures such as the movement of the hair touch, touching the nose, etc.

1. The eyes

Your eyes can send you a lot of information about the person in front of you. So if the person has dilated pupils it means he or she is interested in the subject or you. Another sign is the direction of sight.
When the interlocutor looks a lot at one side, he is lying, nervous or distracted. And if he looks down, he's probably shy. On the other hand, visual contact longer than five minutes is an indication of physical attraction, but a fixed look, accompanied by facial immobility, reveals a disagreement about what is being transmitted to it.

The look around shows a state of boredom either by situation or by conversation.

2. The hands

When the person you are talking to holds their arms open means that they feel comfortable, relaxed. Also, if she rests her hand behind her neck or head, she is open to what is being discussed. The hand placed on the hips denotes waiting or impatience, but the hips are also a sign of aggression, attack.
If the interlocutor keeps his hands crossed, he suggests a closed, distrustful or defensive attitude. On the other hand, if he hides his hands in his pockets or elsewhere, it can be a sign that he does not say all the truth or that he is lying.

The way we shake hands with a person we've just met can say a lot about us. A person who wants to dominate takes a step forward when stretching his hand.

3. The way we walk

An important significance in nonverbal communication also have the feet. The way of walking say something about the character of a man (for example, rational, active).

So, reading body language helps us to know who to trust and to see if someone is upset.

I like how you managed to deliver this valuable info, even essential I would say 😊.
Also, the quickest way to develop the skill of observation, required in order to actually read the body language is to stay in control of your stature as often as you can.
That alone will remind you to pay attention to others. Just keep your shoulders back and smile, works like wonder from the moment you start.
I can't wait to read more of what you offer us, thank you and keep up the good work 😊.
