Far away from CA, down under in Australia. In my younger days it was a heavy wave called Buggeries, called that because it was a long time and hard bush walk to get there, left one feeling "buggered" (Aussie slang for extremely tired) even before getting in the water.
I agree with @Alkhemst... Best addiction on the planet! Even the days when you get beat up by Monstro waves :D
