On a sunny morning in the day around 6:30 I saw a man who was feeding a buffalo. At that time I was driving to the office. This is really a sight that I rarely encounter.
In my hometown near Adisumarmo airport we can not find any more buffalo.
The buffalo that used to plow the fields has been replaced by modern tractor plow.
Buffalo is an animal that likes to puddle water. Buffalo is grazed in a muddy field, eating a singgang (buds on harvested rice crops). Buffalo grazed in the morning starting at around 04.30 and at 06.30 is gone. Before returning home I saw the buffalo herds herd buffaloes to the river near the rice fields to bathe after his body was covered with mud from the fields.
Again, the buffalo pastor was an adult and not a child as I was when I was a child.
Times have indeed changed, maybe someday if people in the village no longer raise cattle, people no longer shepherd their livestock fate children and our grandchildren can no longer see herders. Just a story about goats, buffaloes, or ducks. Even the children will no longer know which goats, buffaloes, cows, and others. Hopefully this does not happen.
