Waiting for the sunrise on the summer solstice.

To many the Summer solstice is a special and sacred day and it has been observed far back into pre history. 19 years ago I travelled with my wife to Stonehenge to witness the sunrise on the solstice. With hundreds of other people we were blessed to stand amongst the ancient stones while we waited for the sun to rise.

I posted the picture below yesterday but it's worth another share. Far back before our history recorded events people built the great henge and stood to watch the sun come up on the Summer Solstice. To take part in such an ancient tradition and to walk amonst the stones on such a special night was a magical event.
