Homemade copper bracelet mark 2. Step by step.

in #life8 years ago

Yesterday I had a go at making a copper bracelet for Mrs Alienbutt to help with her arthritis and while it worked I realised as I made it there was a better way to do it. The first bracelet was a little big too so I had another go today.

I cut a piece of wire and folded it in half before making it into a circle and folded over the ends into the loop with a pair of pliers.

Taking a long length of wire I began to wrap the loop, threading the wire through the loop.

Once all the loop is wrapped you just snip off the wire and with pliers you squash in the end to avoid any sharp end that could cause a scratch.

There are many claims that copper reduces arthritis pain although the exact reason isn't know. Some claim that tiny parts of copper are absorbed into the body and help replace worn cartilage.
Copper and magnetic strips can be bought ranging in price in the UK from £25 to £65. My mum had a copper bracelet that she made and swore by when she first started to get arthritis and while medical study discredits the use of copper and magnetic copper bands, many people claim they help.

While all claims of medical benefit can't be proved, recycling a few foot of old 2.5 mm cable hasn't cost anything and maybe medical science just doesn't understand everything and tends to dismiss what it can't explain.

Maybe copper rings are nothing but a placebo effect. Who cares? As long as it helps that's all that matters.

I'd go with whatever works ... and that's a nice copper bracelet!
