You like doing good for others?
If you do good while waiting for a pay back, you doing business, you're not doing good...it's commercial transaction, doing good for others means doing it without waiting for anything jn return, not even a thank you, as simple as that.
If others shows gratitude that would be perfect, but if they didnt then you shouldnt lose it...doing shows what you're made of, if they dont show gratitude it shows what they're made of...
Do good, be good...and good will wander around and come back to your doorstep

The phrase "MOST PEOPLE" is subjective, i may use SOME PEOPLE, i believe that "the law of attraction" works well here...you will attract the people by your energy...allah included many hints on this very point in quran
