Literature is More Than Text

Hello everybody!

We have a very unusual topic today. How do you feel about literary criticism? Do you read a lot?

In fact, literary criticism is not just a science (although disputes still go on about this). Literary criticism is also an art. Virtually in any literary work we can see the trends of the society of the time in which this or that work was written. This idea can be confirmed by a very famous Russian work. Did everyone hear about Nikolai Alekseevich Nekrasov? He is the author of the famous work for the whole world "Who Is Happy in Russia?"

In order to explain that the work contains the history of the Russian people, I start a little from another place.
Did everyone hear about such rulers as Alexander II of Russia? When he ruse the country people had really a lot of changes in politic and in people's lives genarally. He carried out the reformation of the press, the judiciary, education, military reformation. And also the reformation, which modern people have heard more about than any other - the Reformation, which freed the peasants. So that's it. One of several meanings that Nekrasov wanted to convey to us in his poem is derived in the very title of the work. The work is come out in 1863, a couple of years after the liberation of the peasants.

On the one hand, the emancipation of the peasants is wonderful, is not it?
After all, this is something they could only dream about and see in their dreams. But the main problem was that no one was prepared for this stage in history. Perhaps the peasants dreamed of freedom. But they had no idea what to do with it. This fact is not surprise because all life peanats need to be obedient and not to think at all, and then a lot of responsibility falls on his head, what with all this? Now we must think about where to get food, and this section of the population was not accustomed to think. They were either fed by the person they worked for, or did not feed. And that's all.

But the problem was also with the higher strata of society. The fact is that the landlords lived in the same way for centuries. They had workers who provided a certain fulfilled rate. And then serfs no longer exist. And they need to come up with new ways to, as I call it: "get the mammoth and bring it to the table." And the logic of that time was this: "Am I supposed to work? This is the duty of serfs. I must command. " And then we need to figure out how to feed ourselves and our big family.

Thus one can understand that no one has been adapted to a new life.

The next problem that Nekrasov raises is also related to the innovation reform. Yes, representatives of the serfdom have received personal freedom, even if they now do not know what to do with it and how to live on. But in fact everything was planned in such a way that the serfs still remained dependent on other people. As I said, the peasants got their freedom. But they did not get the most important for that time - they did not get land. If there is no land, there is no money. They were given land for temporary use. But it was necessary to pay for it so much that the profits from the trade did not always suffice even for this. The peasant could not to bought a land. The country did really a lot of problem for peasant whan they wanted to bought the land. The simplest obstacle was the amount of money that must be paid for the land. It is clear that a very small percentage of former peasants had such money, and it was simply impossible to accumulate them.

Thus, it can be seen that the social and historical reality is displayed in the literature. In fact, this is not surprising. Not surprising for the reason that literature is an art. And one of the functions of art is sublimation.

Sublimation is the process when a person try to splash out negative feelings. And the most popular way to do it is an art. For example, when I'm furious, I'm going to dance step-dance. It helps me to remove anger.

And if the process of writing a literary work (even if it is a work of its own) is a way to defuse itself from problems and anxieties, then a person will write about what disturbs him. I know many people who write poems when they have problems in life. When they are all right, they do not think to take up the pen. But when they are overtaken by the crisis, the best thing they can do is write something.

Therefore, reading the work, you can learn about what interested people at any time. You can find out what was happening in society, as well as see the reflection of what is happening.

Therefore, for me, a literary work is something more than a text. It's a way to find out how people lived in this or that era. And also for me, it's a great way to remind myself that I'm fine!
