I found myself saying a little something about the idea of inspiration lately and so I decided to write a post on it.

Here's the deal: Being inspired actually takes work

I am pretty sure that, for more than a few times in your life, you had that cathartic moment where you felt inspired as hell.

You felt that 'high.' You felt all warm and fuzzy inside with a strong mix of excitement. 

You're like, "WOW! I know what to do now!"

And then you create a plan. 

And then you start the work. You kill it on the first day!

And then you tell others about it.

And then one day... It all stops. It freezes. 

You're tired. You lack energy. You don't look forward to doing the work anymore. You are frustrated and angry even.

You wonder to yourself, "Where was that awesome feeling I had? I also know what it is I need to do, but why don't I feel like doing it?!"

I'll tell you why: You didn't put in the effort to continually be RE-inspired.

Straight up: Inspiration dies.

I am sorry, but this is life. This isn't a movie. You aren't the main character who gets inspired, goes through a montage with teen pop music in the background and get lots of shit done easily and automatically.

You don't really get to live happily ever after.

Sounds scary? It kind of is. But it doesn't have to be.

You just have to get it in your head that getting inspired takes real, actual work.

That means getting off your ass to do things you think will inspire you.

And guess what? Inspiration is free! No charge. Zero costs. No hidden fees either.

Just get out there and do cool shit!

Read a book. Go to a concert. Interview someone. Email your favorite writer. Go to a dance jam. Catch up with an old friend. Create something. Fly a kite. Go for a hike. Do some volunteer work. Whatever! It's free and everywhere!

The fine print on the dotted line? You get to have fun!

But again, you need to get off your ass and do it.

Please do not kid yourself into thinking that you're putting in the work by sitting on your ass all day at home surfing the internet with your phone or watching Netflix. 

GET UP and do something.

And then, that inspiration will come. It will come, it will come, it will come and it will come.

By then, you wouldn't care if you get a happy ending or not.

Because it's the journey that counts.

It's whether you want to make it a boring one with crappy scenery or one that's like a freaking carnival.
