Do you think it's appropriate for nursing mothers to breastfeed their children in public ?
Humans belong to the class mammalia. Mammalian females have specific glands that produce milk to feed their toddlers. Breasts of females of every species of this class, except human, swell only when they have new-born babies. When they don’t have to feed their toddlers, their breasts remain in a normal state. Human adult females' breast always remain in swelling state.
Breasts are not a matter of attraction for other mammalians but in humans society they also represent female sexuality. This is the reason that human females have to cover their breast to gain social acceptance as sexuality is a big taboo in human society.
However, this is just an artificial restriction. Why should a woman not feed her child in public? If an adult can have food in public, why should one force a mother to keep her baby hungry? People don’t consider it bad to see bare breasted girls, actress and porn starts but they get offended by seeing a woman feeding her child. This exposes our dual standard and hypocrisy of such people. Is breastfeeding against the nature? Is it a crime? No, not at all! Breastfeeding is a natural act. Nothing is obscene about it. Every human have tasted his/her mother’s milk at least once in his/her childhood.
In many tribal communities women remain bare breasted. These people don’t consider breasts as the sexual object because breasts are just a pair of natural organs for them that are meant for feeding a hungry child. They don’t feel any sexual arousal on seeing a woman who is breastfeeding her baby. A newborn baby cannot digest food as an adult can do. That is why nature has given women with such a useful pair of organs. Hence, it is not a bad thing for a woman to breastfeed her child in public. This is just a natural act. This doesn’t amount to a sexual act. There is nothing objectionable about it. People who don’t care when they see porn stars indulging in the sexual act in public but get offended by seeing a woman who is breastfeeding her child, are nothing but the hypocrites and therefore, their mindset is subject to condemnation.

In public places there should a separate room for breastfeeding. Government should arrange room for breastfeeding.
Definitely, government and private parties both should make arrangements for the women who want to feed their babies.

I fully agree with your sentiments, as so often. Of course it's appropriate for women to breastfeed their kids while they are out and about.
The topic scratches a much broader issue for me: I can highly recommend being nude among strangers once in your life, like in a rainbow gathering or the like, and one gets a totally new relationship to our bodies and our obsession with covering them up. We are all messed up in what we consider "normal" because we are so heavily indoctrinated. If you are naked with people you see that all mistrust and judgment falls away quite naturally. I maintain that clothes and the obligatory nature of wearing clothes all the time is one of the prime (mind)control mechanisms of our contemporary "progressive" cultures and the empire we are living under.
The mother may still do it somewhere where it doesn't audaciously weigh on people (like on a bench apart from where the mass of people are walking), but de facto banning it while our artificial culture promotes obsession with sex and earlier and earlier sexualization is plainly insane and highly troubling to me. Making it more acceptable would also help to encourage mothers to breastfeed longer instead of opting for poor corporate substitutes.
