Ask, Believe, Receive - The Open Secret We Sometimes Forget
I have quite a lot on my plate at the moment. Between organising Ghana’s participation in ITU Telecom World in Korea, and the imminent return of my Tech in Ghana Conference (to be held in Accra this November). Add family, love and adapting to life in Ghana (from UK) to the mix… My days and headspace are rapidly filling up.
However, I refuse to be overwhelmed, stressed or any other word that relates to having a breakdown, ageing too quickly etc. So on Saturday I decided to get ahead of myself.
I dedicated the first half of the day to deep sleep (easy peasy), and spent the rest of the evening delving in to self development and positive energy exercises - from reciting ‘Thoughts of the Day’ affirmations to watching old Oprah clips on YouTube. It was wonderful.
Towards the end of the night I found myself digging out The Secret (the book that proposes the secret to leading a happy and successful life). To be honest, I thought I was pretty much done with the whole ‘Law of Attraction’ phase a few years ago. I’m generally very optimistic, and most of the time when I set my mind to something, it manifests without too much effort.
Nevertheless, I wasn’t in a reading mood so found myself buying The Secret film on iTunes, and snuggling up to watch the likes of Bob Proctor, Lisa Nicholls.. et al.
Strangely, it felt like I was hearing some of their philosophies for the first time. What really struck me was this point: Sometimes, without realising it, we send out signals to the Universe that work completely against the thing we truly want for ourselves.
A very typical example used in the film was the desire for money. A person in debt will spend the majority of their time complaining they have no money; stressing over how to pay bills; and dwelling on their current struggle. Meanwhile forgetting that it’s their focus on the lack of money that is actually their biggest problem.
Thinking about and visualising abundance, and taking a few necessary actions to navigate towards their desired direction is all they really need to do to get out of their rut - the universe does the rest! (And I can personally vouch for that).
Last night, like a bolt of lightening, it hit me. The life we are currently living - good or bad - is a direct result of our past thoughts (and subsequent actions). And therein lies our power!
It’s what we’re thinking right now that will determine where we’ll be in the short, mid and long term future; the timeline dependent on how dominant and concentrated our thoughts are. Such a simple but powerful notion. So much so I felt compelled to write this post.
What are you thinking right now? What do you want for yourself, your life, your career, your relationships, your financial stability? What are you doing right now to get to where you want to be? Do you feel like you have it already? You should. (I’m actually speaking to myself).
Sometimes we forget this power and dwell on where we are now, forgetting that the question is, ‘where do you desire to go’? We’re in the driver’s seat. Set the GPS to the required destination, and let’s get on with it. Take control and take responsibility. Because guess what, whether you do or don't the law of attraction remains, you'll get what you ask for.
Yes, I have a lot on my plate - but nothing I didn’t put there. My focus is on the delicious meal I plan to serve to the world in a few months' time. Happy Monday everyone. Bring it on!
Yes it's really easy to send those unwanted signals to the universe without even realizing it. It's the main reason why most people fail to manifest their true desires.
Раньше я тоже так мыслил,..на самом деле,сейчас я думаю,всё намного сложнее..
very true and useful....upped
Great post! I needed this in my life right now.
The universe gives us strength and so many gifts as long as we feel it and appreciate what we deserve.
I really enjoyed reading your thoughts!
I have to admit my thoughts got me in lot of troubles but there must be different dreams I still have to fulfil and waiting for me. When you fall deep, you only prepare for climbing a different mountain again. I did fall but got up and take on the new, exciting challenge.
Life is like a river as I wrote a few days ago.
life is awesome

This is very real and it works! :)
such is life, it gave us too much to handle... but we have to adapt, that is what success is
Such a good post and absolutely true. And the Secret, or LOA, isn’t just magic and energy either. I just saw from from reading your post...the part about visualizing having wealth vs focusing on debts... just the ability to visualize yourself with money can help you work through unconscious resistances to it that you have inside. Like, if you imagine being wealthy but then feel shame or guilt for having more than your neighbors, that is a hold back one needs to work through mentally before the wealth is going to happen. Otherwise we unknowingly resist what we think we desire!
