My Entry to March Competition Hosted by @wolfje - Leaving My Job
As an entry to March Competition hosted by @wolfje, I will write my short story of how I left my job for 10 years. Immediately after graduating from the university, I worked for a trading company with less than 20 employees. Though the company had few employees, by transaction, I considered it as a big company because we also have China and Korea offices. I learned a lot from this company because I worked directly with the CEO and I was compensated fairly. Sometimes, when you have already started earning money for yourself and for your family, your needs are also growing. You think that leaving a job that is your primary source of income will leave you needy and miserable financially. Also, if you were born poor just like me and there are lots of people depending on you, it is really hard to achieve financial stability and independence. So, even when I was no longer happy with my work and in some cases I no longer felt rewarded fairly, I stayed because I thought I needed to. I never realized that I was wasting so much of my time for nothing and I already became a slave to my job.
However, in 2016, my husband and I had a meaningful discussion about my dream of becoming a lawyer someday. We decided to take some risks and one of them is to give up my job so I can re-enter law school and pursue my studies. I can say that we were not really ready financially and it was really a struggle for both of us specially that we are also paying for our house mortgage as well as we have one son to take care of. However, sometimes our dreams are really great driving force to turn our life to a different direction. It has always been my dream to be a lawyer and I also want to help my husband with our finances. We both know that when I become a successful lawyer, I could very well contribute to our finances. My husband is a seafarer and he is always out of the country. I feel for my husband of how he always misses us his family. It is both our dream that he can also give up his job at sea and find a job or establish a business in our country so we can be a real family who stays together and see each other everyday.
At this point, I am again on leave from law school because of my unexpected second pregnancy. Our dreams for our family are still far from reality but by leaving my unrewarding job and making some steps to pursue my lawyer dream is already a big step in turning our life to a different direction. Another best thing that happened as well after I left my job was my finding ways to earn some monies online as well as learning about cryptocurrency and of course steeming.
