The earliest documented publication of this line was attributed to Malcolm S. Forbes as written by Earl Wilson in his popular newspaper column in 1972. This line is further credited to M.S. Forbes as presented in the book and featured in multiple advertisements as follows:

"You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who can do nothing for them or to them." - from the Sayings of Chairman Malcolm.

Quote Origin Source

I find this quote really relevant because as we live our daily lives we meet a lot of people. Being too busy and sometimes dealing with our own problems, we tend to forget and we become careless in the way we treat other people especially those who have nothing to do with us or those whom we do not have a need at the moment. Some of us, at some point were also victims of neglect even by the members of our family. I had these moments with my family as well. So, hopefully being reminded by this line, we will revisit our actions in the future. We may never know when we will be judged and when our actions would mean more than we know to the people around us.
