Beating A Bad Day

in #life7 years ago

Having a bad day is a part of being human, sorry to break it down to you. As much as we like to think of ourselves as perfectly working machines, we aren't.

Well, anatomically we are, emotionally not so much.

Work-related stress, academic-related stress, romance-related stress; you get the idea. We are all so caught up in our lives that most times we aren't even aware of the emotional rollercoaster we are riding and it is only after the 500th ride of feeling nauseated that we are willing to get off. Just for a few minutes.

Lucky for us, there are several things you can do whenever life decides to be a bitch to you and slap your face for a moment.

FEELING OVERWHELMED?

My brain's personal favorite.

We often feel this way when there are too many things we need to accomplish, and we've been postponing them since ever; when we feel like we have too many tabs open. Well, time to start closing them up, buddy.

Ask yourself, what is the one thing that, if accomplished, would make you feel ridiculously good about getting it done?

Rank your tasks using whatever measuring scale you want and get to work done basing them on it. You will not only be a bit more motivated to get it done, but you will also feel effortlessly good about it once it's completed.

FEELING BAD ABOUT YOURSELF?

We all have a bad hair day. Or a bloated-stomach day. Or even better, a sudden-acne-outbreak kind of day.

Yeah, whether you are just a regular guy or gal, or you are a freaking supermodel, we all have days when we feel like shit about ourselves. We look into the mirror and don't like one bit about what we are seeing. Hell, not even a Snapchat filter can make us feel pretty.

Ask yourself, are you judging yourself from an objective place? Or is it really your emotional burn-out doing the talking?

Change your focus to something else. Instead of wasting your time in finding more and more flaws in your skin, try uplifting others who are going through the same type of day as you are. Help others get through their shitty day, trust me, it will consequently help you get through yours.

FEELING TIRED?

Ah, yes. The I-am-genuinely-so-tired-I-could-sleep-during-the-whole-month kind of day.

Our zillion tabs opened in our brain are making it run slower; slower than Internet Explorer, and it's getting really tired of doing the extra work just because you, missy or mister, aren't doing what you are supposed to.

I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear but to fix this, you need to go outside. Yeah, take a walk, stretch your legs. Do some yoga, take your dog for a walk or go upstairs really quick. Get your heart pumping. Your body is getting so tired of not doing anything, that is literally sabotaging you to keep doing nothing. So, MOVE!

I'm begging you; please move.

Listen to your body

Acne breakouts, odd sleep patterns, non-stopping fatigue no matter how many hours you sleep; this is just your body reacting to an unnecessary amount of stress that isn't designed to manage.

Remember that time your heartbeat went fast for no reason? That sudden shortness of breath you felt out of nowhere? Yeah, that was your body too. We often blame our brains for these symptoms without realizing it's actually reaching out to us, begging for us to stop; just to stop pressuring ourselves and live a little.

You've been working so damn hard on your goals; you just need a little push to keep going and get everything done. Trust me, take a moment to recharge, to take care of yourself and to do the things you love the most, without any self-judgment and negative nonsense.

You'll be back on the road as good as new with a lot of energy to accomplish your goals. You'll be glad you did it, I promise.

You got this.
