Patience Is The Key To Success | How Dr. Walter Mischel Proves it With MarshMallow Experiment

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Good day to all, Steemians!

I like to explain "patience is the key of success" with a true story, so my friends if we go back to 1960's there was a psychologist/ Professor named Walter Mischel, so one day he was giving a lecture to students who are in between 10 to 13 years of age in classroom and he thinks that if i want to know these child's nature and behavior so what should i do, so he thinks that i must check the patience of these child's first whether they are patient or impatient so what he do he immediately press a bell a attendant comes in professor says go and bring some candies, so attendant goes to canteen and the candy which is available on the canteen at that time is named as marshmallow, so attendant bring those candies and put them in front of professor, So students are busy in doing there work professor said to students hello my dear childs look at that there are lots of candies come for you, so every body start watching at professor then professor said to students i will give one candy to every student and it is a matter of only 10 minutes the students who hold there candy for 10 minutes i will give one more candy to them as a prize for that holding and the students who ate the candy before those ten minutes they will get no prize at all and the time starts now.

So my friends in that class 7 to 8 students are so impatient and they ate there candy before time but 80% of students do a very interesting thing they start a debate with each other they says hey friend let me show your candy, hey look at this my candy is bigger than your's, sir my candy rapper is open can you change it please, like that and my friend there are 8 to 10 such students they just put their candy on table and start doing their work again, so keep in short after 10 minutes Walter Mischel come back in the class and ask to students ok 10 minutes are gone who ate the candy and who not, the proctor's who are standing in the class noting down all the data they tell the professor who ate the candy and who not then the one's who didn't eat the candy get's their prize and the one who eat their candy gets no prize, So Experiment Finished.

So my friends the professor Walter Mischel retired from service in 1991 but before his retirement in 1990 professor Walter thinks that why not he go and find out about those students who participate in that marshmallow experiment and my friends when they search and find out those 100 students who takes part in that test, they study their life's and find out that out of those 100 students 7 students are living in extremely worse conditions, they are either begging and some of them are in prison due to criminal activities and some of them are drugs addicted, so peoples says that who are they the professor tells them these are those peoples who are so impatient in life and today they are paying the price of it and then peoples says that what happened to majority of the participants, the professors tells that they are living a average life then peoples says the what about the rest, the professor says that they are extremely successful and effective peoples some of them are brilliant engineer and some of them are brilliant doctor's as well and some of them are extraordinary scientists.

So my friends Dr. Walter Mischel completed his research and in psychology that research is called as "Marshmallow Effect" and behavior sciences extremely believe on that research and that research tells us that only 10 minutes of patience in life really determines and identify our future.
