Salted Fish: Benefits and Dangers

Hello steemians,
Today's lunch menu: white rice, salted fish and melinjo crackers. The menu is simple, but tasty and risky. risk to our health if consumed too much. Do you agree?

A. What is a salted fish?
Salted fish is one of the processed products of fish, some are from freshwater fish and there are sea fish. The process of making salted fish of course with marinated, then dried in a few days under the hot sun. This marinating process makes salted fish can be durable, which is different from wet fish or fresh fish. However, salted fish also has the same function with fresh fish, namely as a side dish or our daily diet.
If we travel on the coast of Aceh Besar, along the Banda Aceh-Meulaboh road, such as Leupung, Patek, we can get some places that sell salted fish. The salted fish the sellers offer here are mostly sea fish, even the squid and octopus they provide.

B. How the status of salted fish in social community
Perhaps there are still many of us who still underestimate this food. Salted fish sometimes get less attention from our society. This is due to the salty fish memorable as a lower class meal. Whereas in the highlands, people's desire to consume fish or fresh fish can rarely be fulfilled. The desire can be met by consuming processed fish in the form of salted fish, or frozen sea fish.

Salted fish is known in some countries, not just Indonesia alone. There are several other countries that also consume salted fish, such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia.

E. What is the danger of salted fish?
The salt content is too high and also sometimes contaminated with heavy metals causing excessive consumption of salted fish can be at risk of high blood disease. Therefore, the consumption of salted fish should be the frequency and amount adjusted to our health level. Or served along with fruit and vegetable.

When we use salted fish, it is always soaked in water for a few days. And we change the soaking water. When we eat it, the fish doesn't taste salty. But I'm sure you're probably right about the elevated level of heavy metals and possibly salt.
