If we can't live with freedom, we don't deserve to live.

Maybe it's because anarchy (not chaos, but stateless societies) is such an unpopular idea that I've encountered so few arguments against the abolishment of the organized murder, theft, and rape machines that we call "government."

If you still think that asking libertarians or anarchists, "Who will build the roads?" is a "gotcha" question, you might wanna stay out of this. We had private roads in these united States before we had government roads.

Mostly, the argument against burning down the organized murder, theft, and rape machines is that, if we do that, we'll all start murdering, stealing, and raping.

I don't believe that. Sure, it's possible that there are a ton of people out there who are thinking that they would kill that guy, or mug that couple, or rape that woman if only he or she wouldn't have to deal with the organized murder, theft, and rape machine; but, I doubt that there are many. Also, going stateless doesn't mean that consequences go away.

What's more, when you consider the 133 million people murdered by governments in the 20th century (that's excluding wars), I think you'd have a steep hill to climb to claim that, if the whole world went stateless tomorrow, private citizens would hit those numbers when it comes to murdered people.

Still, all of this is ancillary.

Parameters as preface -- this is, and will be the only time that I will use the word "deserve" to apply to a broad collective; and, in this case, it's the broadest possible collective.

If we get rid of the organized murder, theft, and rape machines, and we survive, or even flourish, we've proven to ourselves -- everybody, that we're somewhat deserving of a place in the universe. We'll know that we're capable of doing right because it's right, and not because we're compelled. We'll know that we're capable of restraint from doing wrong on our own, however imperfectly.

I think that that's what will happen.

If I'm wrong, and the organized murder, theft, and rape machines are all that stand between human existence and self-destruction, and if a stateless world would be the death of us, I say, "So be it."

If that's true, then what are we protecting? If you believe that people in general are so naturally evil, and destructive, and stupid that we need...well...people to rule us lest we die, then why do we deserve our small spot in this universe?
