Howa Bolt-action Rifle -- First Run!

Here's my initial run-through with the Howa Chassis Rifle. Not only was it my first time firing a Howa rifle, it was my maiden voyage with a bolt-action platform. I had a tremendous amount of fun with the Howa Chassis Rifle, which is undoubtedly one of the hidden gems of the firearms industry. If you're in the market for a reliable, accurate long-range platform that won't break the bank, consider the Howa rifle. It will eat through whatever type of ammo you feed it (no failures whatsoever) and with amazing accuracy, even with cheap Russian steel-cased ammo. In this case, I used Tulammo 165 grain .308 Winchester.

So much trash talk is perpetuated about cheap Russian ammo, such as the popular Wolf or Brown Bear brands. Arguably, Tulammo -- which is considered the king of cheap ammo -- gets the most flak from firearm purists. The accusation is that cheap Tulammo won't cycle, and often won't fire when used in any platform other than "com bloc" guns like the AK47, or similar Kalashnikov based rifles.

Understandably, many American guns won't fire cheap ammo like Tulammo. But is that the fault of the cheap ammo brand, or is something wrong with the platform itself? I've long been suspicious of the quality of certain American guns, so I decided to go with Japanese rifles. The Howa 1500 platform, distributed by Legacy Sports, is the perfect representation of Japanese rifles -- robust, reliable, and will shoot accurately in any number of conditions.

Will the Howa 1500 shoot cheap ammo like Tulammo? You bet it does! The Howa eats up all kinds of ammo no problem. Contrary to the BS propagated by steel ammo haters, the Howa 1500 rifle -- in particular, the latest Howa Chassis Rifle -- has never had a problem shooting Tulammo or any steel platform. Perhaps this has something to do with the legendary strength of Japanese steel and quality craftsmanship?

The Howa Chassis Rifle and the Howa 1500 lineup are incredibly underrated. For the money, you will simply not find a better, more accurate platform. Howa guarantees a sub-MOA rifle with premium ammo. The best part is that sub-MOA can be achieved with cheap ammo like Tulammo as well!
