Libertarians 002 - Yuri N. Maltsev

in #libertarian8 years ago (edited)

After watching actual publications on the Youtube-Channel of the Mises Institute on political correctness and remembering some names which came up during the talks, I started to watch some older presentations of these people.

One of the most interesting libertarians who was referred to is Yuri N. Maltsev (https://mises.org/profile/yuri-n-maltsev). He is a Russian-American economist and Professor who was already active during the late Soviet Union where he worked as an advisor to the general secretary of the communist party of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. Maltsev has first hand experience of the late Soviet Socialist System as a citizen and as an official in a comittee.

In this article I predominantly like to share some videos of talks by Yuri N. Maltsev. Their content is highly valuable and well presented. Besides these presentations Maltsev edited a book named Requiem for Marx which can be found on the website of the Mises Institute [1].

The thing Maltsev does in his brilliant presentations is simply destroying any of the many completely wrong imaginations about Socialism that are taught to students in western schools. He is able to present the Soviet Regime as one of the most atrocious phenomena of human history. If the number of deaths caused by the regime are counted, one comes to 45-62 million people killed in the Soviet Union by its multicriminal government. And still a lot of western intellectuals diligently try to trivialize these facts.

I recommend any of his talks uploaded at Misesmedia (there are many more on other channels), sorted by the date of upload:

PS:
All socialist regimes killed their own people. An estimate listed on savageleft.com collects 129.6 million dead people due to Socialist Regimes [2]. The incredible numbers consist of mass murder, mass starving to death, and wars between Socialist Countries. The best thing about the death toll table on savageleft.com is, that the German National Socialism is listed in the same table with a death toll of nearly 21 million people. Because one should never forget, that Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels both declared that they were Socialists. Their regime was totalitarian, collectivist and therefore much nearer related to socialism than anything like capitalism with free markets.
On steemit I already mentioned the peace reasearcher Rudolph Joseph Rummels [3,4] from Hawaii as a source for the numbers of people killed by the hands of criminal regimes.
