Steemit Libertarians, let's discuss free market principles & business

In this clip, I talk about the GA LT GOV wanting to punish Delta for canceling their NRA discount program

As a free market party, shouldn't Republicans be opposed to this type of government meddling in the business decisions of companies like Delta? Is there not a hypocrisy in simultaneously saying that government should not meddle nor try to influence the behavior and policy of companies like Delta, while at the same time saying they want to punish Delta for their business decision?

Let's discuss this

The notion that conservatives support "small gubbmint" has gotta be one of the biggest shams I have ever heard of.

Yep, absolute and total scam

The Republican party is not even close to free market advocacy. They throw around the term opportunistically, while supporting a system that is quasi-socialistic in nature. The defense industry, a major source of campaign contributions for the Republican party, is the text book definition of socialism. The banking industry would more appropriately be called a cartel as would the oil industry, and every other sector that finances republican candidates.

tis what we call state capitalism:

Free market my ass, these corporations are always undermining the free market by abusing, misleading and even lying to consumers (the whole goal of the marketing industry is to undermine the free market), engaging in cronyism... state capitalism has been a disaster for us all.

interesting discussion. but I do not understand about that in your country. I will let you know

I don't belive in free markets either.

Republicans acting hypocritically? Doesn't sound like news to me although it's perfectly valid for you to continue to list the occasions when they do so.

It seems to me, from my perspective in the UK, that the US tide is slowly beginning to turn in respect of the NRA "guns are good" attitude. The recent, tragic, school shootings have helped turn this tide. Delta maybe recognise this change of attitude and have concluded that tacit support for the NRA is just bad for business in the long run. Although they are not doing this for moral reasons, it's still an indicator of the gradual and positive change in attitude toward gun control.

Well, you have to give them one thing: They are consistent. Everything that hurts their own wallet in any way, will be fought with tooths and nails. Just don't be equal to everybody else, or you could end up a commoner.

If Republicans where given the choice between a Libertarian Utopia
or a Military fascist thocracy ruled by them, 90% would chose the later
