LGBT+ People can be Asexual?

We are going to explore and break down what does the word asexual means before we get more into deep with the theme. But for some People this one will get confusing because Social Media paint a picture of the LGBT+ community as a bunch of Sexual predators and promiscuous People.

How can You define Asexual:

A person who generally does not feel sexual attraction or desire to any group of people. Asexuality is not the same as celibacy.

Sounds very simple right and actually it is. But there are more about it. And there is where the comprehension of this word can become more confusing.

Asexual flag. "The black represents asexuality, the grey represents grey-asexuality and demisexuality, the white represents non-asexual partners and allies, and the purple represents community."

Who can be asexual?

No matter Your gender or sexual orientation You can be an asexual person.

Do asexual People have sex?

They might. Being asexual means You lack desire for sex but at times and depending the situations asexual People might engage in sexual activities. It might be due to a romantic relationship or the fact they want to pleasure themselves or even the desire to have children.

How society see Asexuality?

Because nowadays Society is so sexually oriented Everyone that is Asexual might find themselves in a situation where the acceptance by others might not be easy. There might be a lot of People afraid of assuming this orientation because of the judgement. Not having desire to have sex it is not easy to explain to some People specially because all they see in society is sex, sex, sex.

If You want to go more in depth about all the details about Asexuality I would recommend You to read it here.

I understand this. There are some people that are asexual for sure. But today's society being sexually oriented is IMO not why this might seem odd to others. We exist, continue as a species, and thrive on sex - biologically. So I don't buy the argument that the cause of all of our woes is societal. Our problems are not because of "them" or "others." We are just generally wired for sex, with someone… And those of us who are wired outside of this Norm, those dear souls who are anomalies, are not easy for the majority to understand. Asexuality bucks our purpose as beings, but that Doesn't mean genuine asexual beings are wrong. I suspect one of my sons may remain asexual, and I love him with all of my heart. I want him to do nothing but be authentic and rock the hell out of who he is.
