the group that knows how to fight and how to win on every issue where justice is at stake is the LGBT community.....
Sad to say that Democrats in this country (are largely) not fighters....women in this country are not fighters...not in the way they should be for the protection of their own dignity and bodies.....
Metaphorically speaking, if this election were framed to them as a choice between accepting civil unions or being imprisoned...they would not accept that choice...they would demand same sex marriage...and not be placated by civil unions because the alternative is to be imprisoned.....
that is how you placate people...you give them two bad choices and force them to choose between them....that is not progress!!!
Would MLK have accepted a compromise where blacks don't have to go to the back of the bus but they have to go to the (back half) of the bus? NO effing way....he wouldn't call that progress...and I'm not calling Hillary "progress" either...
that's what this election is about to me.......we are being asked to settle for civil unions....
why can't the LGBT community be in charge of leading our country...? (just kidding) but maybe they could create real change...by demanding justice...not privilege...but justice!
I have nothing against, but answer me something: If all humans, if they decide to like the same sex, there would enter into extinction?
That will not happen, it's only that more diversity get's introduced now. It is a new experience of life, and society and I am very happy that current society offers such degrees of freedom!
The problem with this all or nothing attitude though is it does cause losses. While you might not want to accept the choice between civil unions and prison if you don't make a choice someone else will make it for you and that could end up with you in prison.
Yes you fight for change and as a progressive I really wish we'd had a truly progressive candidate but when presented the choice between a middle way candidate and a rabid right wing fascist I will fight for the middle way candidate lest the fascist gets foisted upon me.
