Why Burnout Is A Blessing In Disguise.
But how can burnout ever be regarded as any gift?
Because if you're feeling the negative effects of burnout I understand you and feel for you.
I know how painful it is as our stress mounts, our stamina wains, our mental focus disappears and we're no longer able to function.
It's different for each of us to varying degrees but don't worry, it's about to become a blessing in disguise...if we let it.
It requires us to stop.
And when we take a break we have a great chance to re-evaluate our priorities, progress and regroup.
This is the best time for us to assess our own health and well-being.
We don't just want to keep sleep walking through life and our business when we're running on empty.
Here are a few vital questions to ask ourselves at this time:
Give yourself a score from 1-10
How is my energy level today?
Am I free of any emotional, mental or physical pain today?
How calm and focused am I right now?
How is my mood and out-look today?
How much do I identify with my 'big why' or 'greater purpose' for living?
How supportive do I feel by those around me?
How supportive do I feel by my environment?
Score yourself again next month and see what's changes or improved.
This provides us with a very multi-dimensional approach to giving ourselves the reality check we need and a chance to implement preventative measures before aspects of our health and well-being get even worse.
Every part of our life is intertwined and connected and in order to perform at our best for our business and family we need to think multi-dimensional.
Only then we can provide ourselves a proper chance of rest and repair even before we need it most.
It forces us to take our whole self, our self-care and well-being seriously. We won't fully recover from burnout unless we think differently about ourselves.
It's not a pleasant period of time but it can certainly be a powerful opportunity to renew and begin again.
So when we feel burned out and give ourselves and others boundaries to protect ourselves , we have the chance to take a break to assess and reflect, it might just be the start of a blessing in disguise.
