Harry Potter 20th anniversary documentary featuring JK Rowling to air on BBC

Just over 20 years ago, the world had no idea who J. K. Rowling was.

Seven books later, the author’s a household name, numerous best-selling books, a blockbuster movie series, and an award-winning stage play in the back pocket.

That success, of course, comes thanks to Rowling’s most famous creation: Harry Potter. The first book about the boy who lived, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, reached UK bookshelves in June 1997, touching down even later in the US, on the 1 September 1998.
