Kleiner Rauch-Sackträger ■ Bagworm moth
Psyche casta (Pallas, 1767)
Der kleine Rauch-Sackträger ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der echten Sackträger (Psychidae). Die Weibchen können nicht fliegen und leben in ihrem Sack aus trockenen Pflanzenstängel. Durch ein Pheromon locken die Weibchen Männchen an. Die Paarung vollzieht sich direkt am Sack. In diesen Sack legt das Weibchen unmittelbar nach der Paarung seine Eier und stirbt kurz darauf. Die Raupen ernähren sich von Laubbäumen und verschiedenen Sträuchern. Sie beginnen direkt nach dem Schlüpfen mit dem Bau ihres arttypischen Sack aus kleinen Pflanzenteilen. Die Männchen fliegen von Mai bis Juli in einer Generation. Der Falter ist noch sehr zahlreich zu finden und gilt in seinem Bestand als nicht gefährdet.
The bagworm moth is a moth from the family of (Psychidae). The females cannot fly and live in their sacks of dry plant stems. By a pheromone, the females attract males. The pairing takes place directly at the bag. In this bag, the female lays its eggs immediately after mating and dies shortly afterwards. The caterpillars feed on deciduous trees and various shrubs. Immediately after hatching, they start building their species-typical sack of small plant parts. The males fly from May to July in one generation. The moths can still be found in large numbers and are not considered to be endangered.

Die wenigsten Menschen würden hinter diesem seltsamen Gebilde ein Schmetterling vermuten. Ich konnte den Sack in diesem Winter sehr zahlreich an den unterschiedlichsten Stellen finden. Dieser kleine unspektakuläre Nachtfalter ist sicher kein Hingucker auf den ersten Blick. Er gehört aber auch zur faszinierenden Welt der Schmetterlinge.

Very few people would suspect a moth behind this strange structure. I was able to find the sack in many different places this winter. This small unspectacular moth is certainly not an eye-catcher at first sight. But it also belongs to the fascinating world of moths.

Es muss ja nicht immer ein farbenfroher Schmetterling sein. Mich fasziniert auch immer die Geschichte die hinter so einem Schmetterling steckt.
