Messi accepts one-year deal from Paris Saint-Germain
Gilliam Balague has revealed Messi's future at Paris Saint-Germain.
While many were expecting the Argentine world champion to leave France and return to Barcelona, Balague said in Ligue 1 that "there is an agreement for Messi to renew his contract".
According to Spanish football expert Balague, the 35-year-old has accepted Paris Saint-Germain's offer for a new contract.
That's despite interest from Messi's former club Barcelona, where he played for 21 years.
Messi's current contract expires at the end of this season and it has been widely reported that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will decide on his future after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Inter Miami from MLS has also been tipped as an option for him
But Balague said football had reached an agreement for the veteran striker to sign a new contract.
"Time to talk about Leo's future. Luis Campos communicated with Jorge Messi for four months," he tweeted.
"Jorge and Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had an important meeting in Doha and they made progress. Messi agreed to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
"He has a two-year [deal] plus one year at PSG. The French club have abandoned the idea of using 'plus one' for a contract extension, and are instead offering one year plus an additional year by mutual agreement."
