Different lending platforms! Why do they pop up now?

Last 2 months I did involved in a few different lending programs.
I started with Bitconnect and this one gave me good profit.
Now there popping up several new platforms and I started to wonder why!
Is it because the fork is coming and we all get free Bitcoin Gold from it and some smart people made those platform to make big profit?
Will they scam us?
Or is it just a big hype and it blow over?
Maybe it is just the beginning!
I'm wondering whats going to happen next!

I really hope we all can benefit from it and get a passive income!
