MATLAB/SIMULINK SIMULATION ON IMPROVING THE OUTPUT OF CASCADED FIVE LEVEL MULTILEVEL INVERTER USING LOW PASS BROADNBAND FILTER
One important factor of economic growth and development is the adequate supply of energy and they are often affected by power quality issue. Power quality issues in power systems is an aspect which demand special attention. It is a system’s inability to maintain a sinusoidal power distribution voltage and current at a rated magnitude and frequency. Therefore, any disturbance in a distribution system is referred to as a power quality issue. The impact of power quality in low voltages and high voltages is much more pronounced now-a- days. Due to its impact on equipment’s (laptops batteries, chargers and on electronic devices) life cycle and in case of high voltages transmission line sag, swell and voltage dip which leads to increase in the economic aspects of both consumer end and industrial side. These power quality effects are caused due to the distorted sinusoidal wave also called harmonics. These harmonics lead to the false operation of circuit breakers and relays, reduction in transmission system efficiency, malfunction of electronic equipment, and overheating of transformers. Non-linear loads like adjustable speed drives; electronically ballasted lighting and the power supplies of the electrical with equipment applied in present offices affect current harmonics in recent electrical allocation systems. By these harmonic currents, Voltage alteration is generated as they unite with the impedance features of the supply systems. The use of filters have been used to eliminate the current harmonics and improve the power factor.
Eradication of harmonics in nonlinear system is moreover attained by using a non-natural neural Network. Currently, Low Pass Broadband filter is commonly utilized for eliminating harmonics and for improving power factor to eradication of the negative and zero series elements. Intended for abolition of harmonics, low pass broadband filters are widely employed.
Shown below is a Matlab/Simulink results of a multilevel inverter with or without low pass broadband filter.
Simulink result obtained without low pass broadband filter.
Simulink result obtained using low pass broadband filter .
Conclusively, comparing the two diagram we can see that harmonic distortion inform of ripples on the output of the Multilevel inverter has been mitigate, which often leads to the production of efficient power quality system using a multilevel and a lowpass broadband filter added to its output. Have you thought about solar or ground energy?
Hello @pfeifferkimberly thanks for the comment... Yeah.... You can follow to see more works on solar energy production, it's such an interesting topic
absolute could not agree more with you. I'm working with a solar power companies as of right now for a project. I'm thinking about finally releasing out to the public.
That's a very good one.... It's good to know you are presently working with a solar power companies recently, which will surely exposed you to the practical aspects. It could be a breakthrough for me too cause there are still some questions from me that warrant someone working with a solar power companies. Thanks for your comment, will tag you with my next post for some clarification
