Lego is a big hit in our house. We're very big on simplifying Christmas as well. My son spends a couple hours each day building with his legos, just being creative. He also spends a decent amount of time reading books before bed.

I shared a picture of our family advent calendar on my introduction post for the advent calendar I'm doing on Steemit. Rather than those terrible chocolates, and along with simplifying Christmas, we're able to fill each door with something unique and special.

Maybe one day it's a special hike, or another is going out to lunch somewhere special. It's nice having the freedom to keep it simple and make opportunity to create memories. Also to encourage giving to others instead of it being all about getting stuff; a couple days usually involve stopping into a friend or family member's work and delivering them a coffee.

Awesome Lego creations you came up with for your custom advent calendar. Well done! Also, I'm a little jealous of your mug. I've got a December birthday as well... in case you need any ideas. Haha.
