Legend has it that a man traveling through Yucatan could hear a sound coming from a plant, without understanding what was happening, he continued walking until the noise became clearer, which came from the evergreen yerba and this one asked him? Are you Balam? A question to which the traveler replied that he did not and the plant then wanted to tell him his sad story that made it the flower that he could now hear.

She told him that her father was a respected man in the tribe and she was a woman priestess, so she could only love her God and prevent her from giving love to a mortal. However, over time he met a man named Balam, of whom he was totally in love and his father knew of the encounter that they always had behind him. Because of this she made the determination to punish the couple, she would sacrifice her to the God Kinich and force her beloved to see everything that was happening in front of her.

When the day of his sacrifice arrived and they dressed for the same one, he felt a pain in the chest as if they had taken his heart to him, the same rolled still beating by the stairs until arriving at the feet of its love, that fled with the heart After hearing that it would be his forever. Balam buried it at the foot of the temple and told him that he would return for it. Many full moons passed and he never saw the love of his life again, but now it was a wild herb and he would always wait for it.

The year that most people had the town was during the year 1910 and by that time there were a total of 168 people living there. More than 90 years ago was spread the legend that all the inhabitants of Misnebalam left the town because they constantly witnessed the apparitions of "Juliancito" that would come to be a ghost.
