Icon of suppressed - Dr. B.R. Amberdkar!
Baba sahib wrote several books out of which "Annihilation of caste" is worth reading. In this book Dr Amberdkar has expressed his views on Hinduism and Hindu nation. Dr Amberdkar is perhaps India's leading postmodern icon. Every political party especially ruling party at the centre and in most of the states seems to have long term place on Dr. Amberdkar.
It is being said that Hindus are very tolerant, however in my opinion this is not true but only misconception. Hindus on many occasions can be intolerant and if on some occasions.
In Dr Amberdkar's view "Religion must mainly a matter of Principles only, Religion cannot be a matter of Rules. The moment it degenerate into rules it ceases to be the religion.
Among Hindus each cast is very much conscious of its existence. Castes do not even from federation. A cast has no feeling that it is affiliated to other castes.
The thought and legacy of Baba sahib Amberdkar has been always with us.
